Friends of Prep School (FOPS)

"Our aim is to raise money that can be used to enhance our children's learning and enjoyment whilst at St Bernard’s Preparatory School."

Who are FOPs?

When your child joins the school community, as a parent you automatically become a member of the FOPS team. FOPS is you !

FOPS is made up of passionate parents who dedicate some of their spare time and energy to raise money for the school for those ‘difficult’ purchases, e.g. the St Bernard’s minivan which takes our children to and from their game fixtures and the interactive smart boards in the classrooms which have made a contribution to making learning more fun and inclusive.

We organise events to help make a difference to our children at the school. It’s hard work but tremendously rewarding. All these things make a big difference to how the school operates - not only helping make lessons more accessible, ensuring that even playtime is more meaningful and the children get the fun they need between lessons.

We believe in raising funds with the 'fun factor.' This helps the children to look forward to an event or two each term.  We also hold ‘parent-only’ events which also encourages networking and more of a community feeling between us.

We are extremely fortunate in having a good team of parents who help but we could do with a lot more parents helping us in any way they can.  We always welcome fresh ideas and new faces to join us!  Every bit of support goes a long way.  Please pop into a meeting even if it’s only for five minutes – we do understand that a parent’s life is  a busy one but your involvement is needed and very much appreciated. You will be rewarded by seeing your child enjoying themselves at the events you help organise.

FOPS do not get involved with personal issues between the parent, teacher and child.  The school operates an ‘open door’ policy which allows parents who have any issues to meet with the teacher or head teacher at short notice.

Details of the next FOPS meetings can be found in the meeting section or can be found in the weekly newsletter sent home with your child. We look forward to seeing you there.
