Dear Parents,

It has been a busy week of maths with an amazing journey full of mind-boggling puzzles and exciting challenges. 

We are thrilled to share our fabulous results from the Primary Maths Challenge! Our young mathematicians have truly excelled, showcasing their problem-solving skills and mathematical prowess. 

Seven of our children were honoured in the annual Primary Maths Challenge. Out of the 64,000 participants, only 2,000 received recognition at national level.

Congratulations to Nainikka for receiving the Gold award, Kaiden and Arjun B for receiving the Silver award and Zane, Ayesha, Arjun J and Meena for receiving the Bronze award.

To celebrate their hard work and their love of numbers, we also marked Pi Day in style. Our corridors echoed with laughter and excitement as our children explored the wonder of this fascinating mathematical concept.

I was delighted to witness the excitement within the school as all of our teachers nurtured the children's curiosity and enthusiasm for numbers, as always, allowing them to shine brightly.

Upper Prep

"How much do the beans cost, Mr Shopkeeper?” Was the question posed by the children in Upper Prep classroom this week. Children came to school on Thursday to find that a Tesco Express had appeared in their room! They eagerly immersed themselves in their topic of money by counting the coins and adding pounds and pence. The children were tasked with adding different amounts together to find the total and using the correct coins to pay for their items. Next week, we will be working on subtraction and giving the right amount of change from coins and notes. Let’s hope the shopkeeper can cope with all the customers!

Our Year 6 children had a cracking time at the 'Easter Cracked' workshop hosted by Langley Free Church.

We were delighted to attend this exciting and educational opportunity at Langley Free Church, presented by enthusiastic church volunteers. 

'Easter Cracked' is a unique interactive experience that captured the attention of our children, engaging them in a journey through the captivating story of Easter. Through fun-filled activities, thought-provoking discussions, and vibrant presentations, this workshop deepened their understanding of the remarkable events that took place originally. 

The children were encouraged to explore the meaning behind Easter in a hands-on and exciting way. They discovered fascinating historical insights, unravelled ancient mysteries, and pondered upon the significance of this special occasion.

Football

Slough Catholic Schools U11 Football Tournaments:

On Wednesday, the 13^th of March,  St Bernard’s Prep hosted the Slough Catholic Primary Schools Football Tournament. Our Lady of Peace, Holy Family, St Bernard’s Prep and the St Bernard’s Saints all participated. This was a wonderful showcase of Primary School Football and all the teams provided the spectators with exciting play and many goals.  Hosts, St Bernard’s Prep, were crowned overall champions with Holy Family as the runners-up.  A special thanks to all the parents for their support on the day, and also a big thank you to the PE Department of St Bernard’s Prep for making this event a huge success.

Netball

Gayhurst Under 9 Netball Tournament

On Tuesday, six U9 Netballers travelled to Gayhurst to play in their annual Netball tournament. The girls played 7 matches winning 3 and losing four. This meant that overall, our team finished fourth. Well done to all the girls who played and competed so well.

Under 10 Netball vs Gayhurst

Last Friday, all of our children in Year 5 travelled to Gayhurst to play in mixed Netball matches. Regardless of playing against very strong teams, our teams put up an amazing effort and collaborated well to produce some exciting goals. Huge congratulations to all the players, and a special well done to Sophia L, Rehmat and Christina for being nominated as the MVPs.
