Newsletter Friday 11th September

Dear Parents,

At the end of our first full week back at school, I am impressed and inspired by how well everyone is adapting to the changes made around the school.  In the week that the Prime Minister reinstated some restrictions, it is a reminder of why we have introduced all these new measures and I'm so proud of the children, who are taking it all in their stride.

This is a testing time for everyone and as ever the children are our priority, which is why we have introduced a Recovery Curriculum that will complement our usual timetable.  The Recovery Curriculum has been devised by Barry Carpenter, a Professor of Mental Health in Education and Matthew Carpenter, Principal at Baxter College, and  is designed to support the children in their transition back to school.

Thank you to all the parents who filled in the wellbeing survey. It has been really helpful to learn more about your concerns and to tailor our support for individuals. We are encouraged by how the children have spoken about their worries and fears - it gives us an opportunity to address them and provide reassurance in uncertain times.

You can learn more about the five pillars of our Recovery Curriculum on our website.

Meet our new Head Boy, Head Girl and their deputies

This week we announced our new Head Boy, Head Girl and their deputies. Congratulations to Rohan Randhawa,  Head Boy, Ria Khanna, Head Girl and deputies Nikhil Surnam and Amaya Patel.

They will be my right hand men and women! I know I can call on these four young people to meet visitors, give speeches and represent St Bernard's Prep whenever they are called upon. Well done all, thoroughly deserved.

Great start for Prep

Prep have had such a fun filled week. Miss Bohannon is so proud of each and every one of them. We now know the directions on a compass, we have written beautiful pieces of writing about our families and we have created this prayer to thank God for Saint Bernard.

A special mention needs to go to Mia Bindra who has completed the local Library’s Summer Reading Challenge!

Our youngest joiners

We are always delighted to welcome new pupils to St Bernard's Prep. Our youngest joiners are settling in well.
