Dear Parents,

I have had the absolute pleasure of spending the week with our wonderful Year 6 children on their residential trip in France this week, and what a memorable experience it’s been. From tasting fresh pastries at a traditional pâtisserie in Rue to tackling thrilling obstacle courses and enjoying sailing on the lake, every day was packed with adventure. We gathered around campfires in the evenings, shared stories, and even took a deep dive into history with a fascinating visit to the Somme Museum—including a powerful lesson in the trenches. One of the highlights for many was visiting a snail farm (yes, we even tasted snails!) and learning all about life under the sea on a fishing boat simulator after exploring how people fish in the English Channel.

While we have been away, it has been brilliant to hear that so much has also been happening back at school. From fire engine visits and first aid workshops to exciting rehearsals and creative projects, it’s been another fantastic week of learning and discovery.

KS1 Performance Rehearsals

There has been a real sense of magic in the air this week as our Year 1 and Year 2 children continue rehearsals for their upcoming performance of Aladdin. The hall has come alive with joyful singing, energetic acting, and plenty of sparkle as the children bring this much-loved story to life. With catchy songs and colourful costumes, everyone is putting in a fantastic effort and having a great time along the way. We know our KS1 families are eagerly awaiting the big performance, so Mrs Adams has captured a few sneak peeks to give you a taste—this show is set to be a musical adventure bursting with energy, laughter, and unforgettable moments!

Early Years Learn About First Aid and Fire Safety

Our Early Years children had a very exciting and educational week with special visits from Nurse Vicki and the local fire service! The children were introduced to basic first aid by Nurse Vicki, learning what to do in an emergency and how to help someone who might be hurt. Through fun, hands-on demonstrations, they practised simple techniques and gained a better understanding of how important it is to stay calm and get help.

To top off the week, the fire engine made a stop at school! The children were thrilled to explore the vehicle, see the equipment up close, and hear about the incredible work firefighters do to keep us all safe. It was a fantastic experience that sparked lots of curiosity and gave our youngest learners valuable knowledge in a fun and memorable way.

Lower Trans trip to the Gurdwara

This week, our Year 3 children had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Slough Gurdwara as part of their learning about Sikhism. The trip offered a rich cultural experience where pupils discovered key aspects of the Sikh faith, including the importance of equality, community, and service. They were warmly welcomed and had the chance to see the prayer hall and the Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy book. A highlight of the visit was enjoying a delicious meal in the Langar hall, where everyone is served regardless of background—a real-life lesson in kindness and inclusion. The children returned full of enthusiasm and curiosity, eager to share all they had learnt.

Geography in Upper Trans

This week, Year 5 brought Geography to life by creating their own biomes—inside plastic bottles. After exploring different ecosystems such as rainforests, deserts, and tundra, the children took their learning outdoors to build miniature biomes using soil, plants, and carefully selected materials. Each bottle became a tiny world, reflecting the unique climate, vegetation, and wildlife of their chosen environment. It was a fantastic hands-on activity that blended science, creativity, and a love for nature. The pupils thoroughly enjoyed the chance to get their hands dirty while deepening their understanding of the natural world.

Upper Trans Fire Safety Visit

This week, Year 5 were excited to welcome a visit from the Langley Firefighters, who came to teach them all about fire safety. The children learnt how to prevent fires, what to do in an emergency, and why having a fire escape plan at home is so important. One of the highlights of the visit was seeing a real fire engine up close. The firefighters brought their fire engine along, and the children had the chance to explore it, learning about the equipment used and how it helps save lives. It was a fun, hands-on experience that made fire safety both memorable and meaningful. A big thank you to Langley Fire Station for such an inspiring and informative visit!

Studybugs

Studybugs is the quickest and easiest way to report your child’s absence. It also helps us keep everyone safe and informed. Your child's attendance does fall under statutory regulations and, as with all schools, is monitored by the local authority. Thank you to parents who are using the Studybug app to support your child's attendance. For those who have not downloaded the app yet, we will contact you individually after half-term to assist you.

As we wrap up another busy and exciting half-term, I would like to wish all our families a restful and enjoyable break. It has been a joy to see the children engaged in so many fantastic activities, and we are incredibly proud of all they have achieved.

When we return, there is so much to look forward to. We have a calendar full of exciting events, including class trips, our much-anticipated Sports Day, the KS1 and KS2 productions, Prize Giving, and many more memorable moments. I am looking forward to welcoming everyone back, refreshed and ready for a fantastic end to the school year.
