Dear Parents,

This week, our school was buzzing with energy as we kicked off an exciting Inter-House TT Rockstars Competition! Organised by Mr Hawkes, the event saw children from all four houses battling it out to prove their times table mastery.

Wednesday brought a burst of colour and creativity as children arrived dressed as their favourite Rock Stars or numbers. What an incredible effort they all made. From glittery guitars to giant digits, the school was transformed into a vibrant stage of maths and music.

On Friday, Mr Hawkes wrapped up the week in true rockstar style, awarding prizes to the top scorers in each house before hosting a high-energy Key Stage finals showdown featuring our ultimate number-crunching champions.

Here is a message from Mr Hawkes himself:

"This week in school has been Inter-House Times Table Rockstars week! The four school houses have been battling all week to see who can come out on top! On Wednesday, the children were able to dress up as their favourite Rockstar or number. All of the outfits were amazing! Thank you all for making huge efforts this week."

2nd Place – Mark
3rd Place – Matthew
4th Place – Luke

Well done to everyone who took part — you truly rocked your times tables!

On Tuesday, pupils from Remove and Upper Trans had the incredible opportunity to travel to the Hexagon Theatre to take part in this year’s Junior Music Festival, in partnership with Berkshire Maestros.

We have proudly participated in this wonderful musical event since 2016, and once again, it proved to be an unforgettable experience. Under the guidance of Mrs Whittaker, our children performed alongside other schools on a professional stage with live musicians, embracing the theme "A Night at the Movies". The concert featured toe-tapping favourites from The Muppet Show, Matilda, Wonka, Papageno by Mozart, and many more.

This achievement is made even more remarkable by the dedication shown by our children. With such a packed schedule, including the school production and the recent French residential trip, rehearsal time was limited to just three lunchtime sessions and two area rehearsals in Windsor. The rest was down to the independent commitment and musical resilience of the children themselves.

As Mrs Whittaker put it:

"It is not an easy task, but every child rose to the challenge brilliantly. I am super proud of all of you!"

You can see just how much fun was had by all in the photos from both the rehearsals and the final performance. A huge well done to everyone who took part. You truly shone under the spotlight!

Thursday brought excitement, and lots of proud smiles as our youngest pupils took part in their EYFS Sports Day! The children had a fantastic time taking on a range of fun activities, including the egg and spoon race, cone flip, hoop skip, beanbag balance, and some speedy sprints.

Every child gave their all, showing great enthusiasm, determination, and team spirit. A huge thank you to all the families who came along to support, your cheers and encouragement made the day even more special.

On Thursday afternoon, our hall was filled with confident voices and lively performances during our annual Elocution Challenge. Two finalists from each class stepped up to perform a poem brought to life through expression and movement, impressing the audience and judges with their clarity, confidence, and creativity.

To help everyone stay cool while our judges, Mrs Ros Nockles and Mrs Verma, made their final decisions, the children enjoyed a refreshing ice lolly, a well-deserved treat on a warm summer afternoon!

After much consideration, we were proud to crown the following winners:

 Year 1 – Shannaya
 Year 2 – Aarvi
 Year 3 – Sanya
 Year 4 – Sianna
 Year 5 – Jannah
 Year 6 – Ria

  • Overall Key Stage 1 Winner – Aarvi
  • Overall Lower Key Stage 2 Winner - Siana
  • Overall Upper Key Stage 2 Winner – Ria

A huge well done to all of our class finalists, overall winners and runner-ups. Your performances were truly outstanding and a credit to your hard work and enthusiasm!

This morning, Year 4 had a fantastic time at the Wycombe Swan Theatre, where they watched a brilliant performance of Horrible Histories: Awful Egyptians. The show brought Ancient Egypt to life in true Horrible Histories style — packed with gruesome facts, fascinating characters, and plenty of laughs along the way!

From mummies to mighty pharaohs, the children were captivated by the fun and fast-paced storytelling. It was an exciting way to deepen their learning about life in ancient times and see history come alive on stage.

A thoroughly entertaining and educational trip.

This afternoon, the whole school came together to enjoy our much-loved Summer Fête — and what a brilliant time we had! The playground was transformed into a buzzing hub of activity, laughter, and community spirit.

The children had a blast on the bouncy slide, got creative at the tattoo and face-painting stations, and were thrilled by a visit from a real fire engine! There were treats galore, from the ice cream van to stalls serving samosas, pakoras, tea and coffee, along witha great BBQ, sizzling away with delicious food.

Families browsed the book and toy stalls, tested their luck at the raffle and lucky dip, and picked up sweet goodies at the cake stall. The game stall was a hit with children and adults alike, and cold drinks were flowing at the refreshments stall.

And if you were lucky, you may have even spotted Miss Beale in the stocks, much to the delight of her many enthusiastic ‘soakers’!

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon such a success, our wonderful FOP's team, staff, volunteers, and of course, all of you who came to support. A special thank-you  to Amba and Romi's dad for coming to the rescue with the BBQ and helping Mr Hawkes and a huge thank-you to Jovan's dad for setting up the perfect bar! What a fantastic way to round off a fun-filled week!

Lower Trans Liturgy

On Wednesday, Lower Trans led a reflective and meaningful liturgy in preparation for the Feast of St. Peter and St. Paul, which is celebrated on 29th June. We began by listening to a letter from St. Paul, giving thanks to God for standing by him and giving him strength. The children then delivered a thoughtful dramatisation of St. Peter’s imprisonment by King Herod. . A heartfelt thank you to Lower Trans for helping us reflect so beautifully.

Year 1 Assembly

This morning, Prep A led a beautiful and thought-provoking assembly inspired by James Sellick’s powerful story, There’s a Rang-Tan in My Bedroom. The children spoke clearly and confidently sharing  an important message about looking after our world and protecting the animals who share it with us.

They reminded us of the impact of deforestation and how small changes we make can help protect habitats for endangered animals like orangutans. With compassion and confidence, they encouraged everyone to think about how we can all play a part in caring for our environment.

A big well done to Prep A — your message was heard loud and clear, and we are so proud of you!

Inter-school Athletics Meeting

On Tuesday, we welcomed both Dair House and Long Close School for a first ever inter-schools athletics meeting to be held at St Bernard’s Prep. All of the children from all three schools got the opportunity to participate in 3 events in the afternoon. We saw the young athletes jump hurdles, do sprints, balance the egg and spoon, compete in sack jump, throw vortexes, do standing long jumps, run the 600m and finally finish with team relays. All of our athletes participated outstandingly and we saw many of our children win or being placed in their events. Well done to everyone for a successful event!

Year 6 Rounders vs Langley Hall.

On Wednesday, we welcomed the Langley Hall Rounders Team for our final fixture of the season. Our team mixed with both boys and girls put up a wonderful display in both batting and fielding, and as a result, convincingly won the match. We scored 17 rounders, and limited Langley Hall to only 5 rounders. Well done to the whole team and a special congratulation to Jiya for being nominated as MVP of the match.
