Newsletter 16th December 2020

Dear Parents,

It's hard to believe we are already at the end of term. When we opened school in September it was with many unknowns ahead of us. Now, looking back, I am so proud of how our whole school community has adapted to the changes and made the best of our situation.

It has been a term full of highlights, from our brilliant ranking in The Sunday Times top prep schools, to the beautiful carol concert last week. When so many schools have cancelled their Christmas productions, we had the pleasure of watching our Nativity via video link, thanks to the staff in the Early Years department.

Despite  the challenges presented by Covid 19, we haven't let our foot off the pedal. We have proved our worth academically in the Maths Quiz, Primary Maths Challenge and new Latin classes, and we have nurtured our pastoral needs with the introduction of Snack and Chat and Play and Talk and our regular Liturgies and Assemblies.

It has been a steep learning curve this term, but I'm delighted to say we have surpassed my expectations. The children and staff continue to be happy, resilient and hard working and it is our famous community spirit which has helped to make this term a triumph.

Early Years' Nativity

The parents of our Early Years children watched the recorded Nativity and the response was fantastic. Thank you for all the wonderful feedback.  A tremendous amount of work goes into these productions but it's all worth it! Well done Early Years.

Berkshire Maestros

Years 1, 4 and 5 took part in Berkshire Maestros music extravaganza, which was live streamed last week on YouTube.

This link shows them 36 - 42 mins from the start.   Well done to the children for singing beautifully and getting to the standard required by the music centre to show their Christmas performances.

Congratulations

Kashvi Kudrekar, Prep, has passed her Karate exam and has moved from Yellow to Green belt.

Aarush Garg, Upper Trans, passed Grade 4 ABRSM music theory exam with distinction.

Daniel Shabi,  Upper Trans,  passed Drum Kit Prep test.

Dhanni Aggarwal, Lower Trans, passed Piano Prep test.

Jayan Bindra, Upper Trans, passed Grade 2 Piano with distinction.

Science experiments

In science Year 4 have been learning about non-Newtonian fluids - a fluid that changes viscosity or flow behaviour under stress.  It has inspired some of our pupils to try their own practical experiments at home with some brilliant videos to document their findings. Well done Mylan and Aryman, Isaac Newton would be proud.

Christmas dinners in Christmas jumpers

On Tuesday the children, dressed in their Christmas jumpers, were welcomed into school in a flurry of snow. Later, everyone tucked into Christmas lunch while carols played.
