Dear Parents,

This week's Parents' Evening was a great success. It was lovely to have the opportunity to talk to you about our plans for the forthcoming year and how we intend to move the children's learning on. This morning Trans K and Trans M (Year 4) shared a beautiful Harvest Assembly with the school. The kindness, generosity and sharing that the children spoke of are values we all should live by.  Elsewhere in the school the children have been competing in sport, singing in music and coding in computing.  Miss Benning also took five children to attend a Dioceses Mass, where they were great ambassadors for our school.

Harry Potter

Our Upper Trans (Year 5) children received an exciting letter via owl this week, with an invitation to take a trip to Platform 9 ¾. The children are so excited to step into the Wizarding World - we hope Hogwarts does not try to poach them!

STEAM

Our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) team are going from strength to strength.  New STEAM hubs will be introduced to each classroom, complete with challenge cards, tools and resources. We can not wait to develop the inner engineers in your children.

U9 Hockey vs Gayhurst

On Tuesday our Under 9 A and B Hockey teams travelled to Gerrards Cross to play in their first fixtures of the year. Our girls all showed plenty of fighting spirit on the pitch, making the games very exciting.  Our A team started off slowly and conceded a few goals, but improved immensely in the second half to ensure our opponents stayed well clear from the goals. Although we lost the match, it was a tremendous effort in the latter part of the game. Our B team made a remarkable comeback from being 0-3 down to eventually draw the match 4-4. This was largely due to an outstanding display of excellent teamwork.

Dea (for outstanding defence) and Jiya (for scoring a hat-trick) were nominated as the “Quilter Kids” players of the matches for their respective teams. Well done girls!

Sports Star of The Week

Well done to Anuj in Lower Trans (Year 3).  Anuj was awarded player of the match by his football club, St Peter's, at the weekend for continuing to improve his goalkeeping skills.

CAFOD Family Breakfast

This year's CAFOD breakfast was a great success. It was so lovely to see so many families come into school and share this annual event with us.  We also had a quiet lunch today, giving the children an opportunity for refection.

Mrs Verma's Big Ideas for Curious Minds

As a school we love to stretch and challenge our children, to enrich their education beyond the curriculum. Every week I will be sharing with you some discussion topics, new vocabulary, Maths riddles and book recommendations, that will infect our children with a love of learning. These will all be posted in the Parent Portal section of our website as well.

Word of the week: meagre (adj)

Very small and not enough; lacking in quality or quantity

"Her meagre salary was not enough to pay her bills."
