Dear Parents,
It has been a whirlwind of a week, with sports fixtures, a theatre trip and the building work continuing apace. The corridors have been filled with music as our Early Years practise for their Nativity play and the upper school rehearse for carolling, which we plan to do in Windsor after our trip to the Pantomime on Thursday 8th December. Thank you to everyone who brought in sweets and bottle for the Christmas Bazaar - the winners of the sweet and bottle line were Transition, who earned an extra 15 minutes break! There are lots of exciting events planned for the upcoming weeks, however, the children still continue to work hard in their lessons and produce some outstanding work. Well done everyone.

Great Fire of London
Upper Prep have been learning about the Great Fire of London this term, which culminated in a very exciting lesson last week when they set fire to the children's model houses, to watch how quickly a fire can spread. The children were delighted with the demonstration and wrote some beautiful first-person pieces, imagining what it would be like to be there when the fire ripped through London. A special mention to Isaac who worked really hard on his creative writing and received a Headteacher's Award.

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
Transition have been reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe this term as their class reader, and this week they went to the theatre to see a production of the story. It was a fantastic experience, which really brought the novel to life and has helped the children with their appreciation of this classic.

Mr B's Sports Report
It has been a very busy two weeks of sport in our school, with rugby and hockey teams across all KS2 year groups taking part in a number fixtures against other schools.
Under 10 Rugby vs Thorpe House
On Friday the 11th of November, our Under 10A and B rugby teams travelled to Thorpe House. The afternoon provided outstanding rugby with players from both teams linking up very well to score some fantastic tries. Our A team played very well and were unlucky to narrowly lose 6-8, and although our B’s lost 5-9, they showed plenty of guts to come back in the second half and play much better as a team. Well done to all the players, and congratulations to both Raman and Navraj who got the MVP “Green Laces” accolades for their respective teams.

Under 9 Rugby vs Dair House and Long Close
The past two weeks saw our Under 9’s take to the field against both Dair House and Long Close School.
Versus Dair House, we played against two of their teams and although our opposition were very quick around our defences, we were able to match them try for try during both of the games, with some outstanding team tries. We drew 8-8 and 7-7 in both of the matches played. This was a real gutsy performance from all the players. A special congratulations to Archie and Ayaan who were both awarded with the MVP “Green Laces” awards.
A week later, we then moved on to Long Close School, where for this fixture we had 2 teams represent the school. Our boys were well drilled and mentally prepared for this fixture. A display of outstanding passing, support and straight running from all of our players, resulted in both teams producing 2 convincing wins, with the A team winning 11-9, and the B team winning 10—3. Well done to everyone involved, and a special mention to both Musa and Veeran, who each received the MVP “Green Laces” awards for their teams.

Under 11 Rugby vs Long Close
On Wednesday 16th of November, three of our Under 11 Rugby Teams travelled to Lascelles Park to play against Long Close School. All three of our teams played wonderfully and produced some very exciting rugby, which resulted in plenty of fantastic tries being scored. All 3 sides won their matches with the As winning 12-9, the Bs winning 10-8 and the Cs winning 10-6. This was an outstanding performance from all the players. Congratulations to all three teams and a special well done to Taara, Annika, Sid and Aarav who received the MVP “Green Laces” awards for their teams.

Under 10 vs Hockey Gayhurst
On Friday the 18th of November our Under 10 A and B Hockey teams travelled to Gerrards Cross for the second fixture against Gayhurst School. Both teams prepared very well for this fixture and were up for the challenge against two very strong sides. Our B team showed plenty of spirit and played extremely well, but were unfortunate not to score and lost the match by a couple of goals. Our A team were 0-1 down at the end of their first half, but two quick successive goals by both Manpreet and Hasitha saw our team take the lead and keep it to the end of the game, to win the match 2-1. A huge congratulations to all the players from both teams and a very special well done to both Ellie and Tulsi who both received the MVP award in each of the matches that they played in.

Under 11 Hockey vs Dair House
On Wednesday the 23rd of November our Under 11A and B hockey teams travelled to Farnham Royal to participate in a fixture against Dair House School. Both of our teams each played a match against their U11A team. Our B team were rather unlucky to go down 0-1, as play was interrupted by very heavy rain and strong winds, and the game had to be shortened. Once the weather had settled, our A team took to the field on what was a rather drenched and soggy pitch. This did not stop our girls from putting in a very good effort and we held our opponents out to 0-0 draw. Regardless of the weather conditions not being ideal, it certainly did not break the spirits of our girls and they certainly put in and amazing performance on the day. Well done to everyone and a special congratulations to both Antonia and Ruby for each getting the “Green Laces” MVP awards.

Celebrating Success
We are delighted to share with you some fantastic results from our Early Years Department. At the end of the foundation stage children are assessed against the early years profile and are said to achieve a Good Level of Development (GLD) if they have achieved their expected levels in Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, as well as Maths and Literacy. 86% of our children at St Bernard's Prep achieved GLD compared with 64% nationally.
Congratulations to Isaac in Upper Prep (Yr 2) who received a Headteacher's Award for his creative writing and for Avi, also in Upper Prep, who received an award for courtesy. Well done.

Dear Parents and Carers,
We would like to ask for your help with raffle prize donations for our Christmas Fete on Monday 5th December.
Our fundraising team works hard to obtain fantastic free donations from local and national companies. We have had a good response over the last few years, and are always grateful for donations.
Therefore, we would like to ask if there are any parents and carers who would be happy to donate or ask their employers for a raffle donation, please.
Raffle donations could range from a raffle gift, gift voucher, cash donation and can vary from free haircuts and beauty treatments, to event tickets and attractions, electronic gadgets, children’s prizes, hampers, confectionery etc.
Any donations would be gratefully received
Many thanks for your support.
