Dear Parents

I hope you have all had a restful half-term, It has been another busy week here with lots of excitement throughout the school. Firstly, Year 5 & 6 children are keenly gearing up for their big performance of The Tempest. Props are being crafted and backdrops are being painted with great care. The energy surrounding rehearsals is incredible, and we can not wait for you to see the final production.

Wayne Dixon from CCiS dropped by to give our Year 6 children some top tips on transitioning to secondary school. From making new friends to tackling tricky lessons, Wayne covered it all. The children have said they are now feeling more confident; benefitting in talking about their hopes and worries, dreams and aspirations.

Year 4 were out on Thursday having a wonderful trip to Hampton Court, embedding their learning about Tudors. Also on Thursday we hosted our first LAMDA examinations and are proud to say we are now officially a LAMDA examination centre.

Last but by no means least, today we had another successful sports day at TVAC, the sun shone on all our children and it was so lovely to celebrate with parents, bringing the whole St Bernard's family together.

Achievements:

We are so proud of Avaani in Year1, during the half-term she competed in a Judo competition, not only did she compete in the boy's category but also won a silver medal, what an amazing achievement!

In Year 4, Archie was awarded the Manager's favourite player and top goal scorer for 22/23 football season in his club. The awards took Archie completely by surprise, and he was very grateful to receive them. Another fantastic achievement, well done Archie!

Early Years St B's Village

The opening of our new St B’s Village is finally here.
Our children had a wonderful time this week discovering their supermarket by being customers and helpful shopkeepers, their hospital by being doctors, nurses and patients, their hairdressers by being grateful clients and artistic hairdressers and their library. The new village allows amazing opportunities for the children to take on so many different roles and develop their language skills and vocabulary through play and sheer enjoyment.

Early Years

Early Years children were cooking up a storm with Mrs Hunter in Nature B's this week. The children had to follow a recipe to make a mud pie. The recipe they followed consisted of lots of interesting ingredients including flowers, pine cones and leaves - delicious!

Buddy Liturgy

This week the children enjoyed their Liturgy time with their buddies. Our children always look forward to spending time with their buddies, sharing stories, creating artwork and having a great time together. It is a fantastic way to bring different year groups together and promote kindness, friendship, and inclusivity.

Year 4 Trip to Hampton Court

Our Year 4 children had a blast visiting Hampton Court on Thursday. They enjoyed learning about the history of one of England's most famous palaces and spent time in the royal kitchens!

From exploring the magnificent gardens, to discovering the Great Hall, the children had so much fun and the weather couldn't have been more perfect!

All of this on our very own doorstep.

Year 6 UKMT Junior Maths Challenge

On April 26th some of our Remove children took part in the Junior Mathematical Challenge (JMC). It is 60-minutes of testing mathematical challenges. It encourages  reasoning, precision of thought, and fluency in using basic mathematical techniques to solve interesting problems. The problems on the JMC are designed to make children think. The Challenge is set for children up to Year 8 in secondary school.

We are delighted to announce all those who took part successfully achieved an award. We had 3 Bronze Winners: Rudra, Taara and Musa ; 4 Silver Winners: Evan, Siddhant, Annika and Suhas; and an amazing 8 Gold Winners: Esha Aryaman, Anish, Tilak, Kabir, Hailee, Oscar and Arjan. Well done to them all - we are so proud of them.

Children who have scored highly are invited to participate in the next round - The Junior Kangaroo. We are lucky enough to have five children Anish, Hailee, Kabir, Tilak and Esha taking part on Wednesday. Good luck!

On top of this amazing achievement 2 of our children Oscar and Arjun, who were awarded best in school, have done so well they have jumped the Kangaroo round and have been invited to participate in the Olympiad which consists of only 1,200 entrants from across the globe!

Sports Day

Once again Mr B and the whole of the Sports department triumphed with another fabulous sports day. RUNNING like clockwork, the children when needed to JUMPED into action, THROWING themselves wholeheartedly into the challenges of the day. It always amazes me how resilient and positive our children are, giving their best whilst helping and caring for each other throughout all the sporting events of the day. A roaring success!

Charity

I would like to share with you the amounts we have all collected for various charities throughout this year. We are completely blown away by these figures especially considering the current financial climate. A massive thank you to all our children, parents and staff who contributed and made a difference to those in need. Let's continue to spread positivity and kindness in the world.
