Dear Parents,

Hello, everyone! It's been another jam-packed week here at St Bernard's Preparatory School. From fun trips to special visitors, we have had it all! Here is a quick rundown of all we have been up to:

Legoland

Our amazing Year 6 children had a fantastic time at Legoland on Monday to celebrate completing their SATs Exams. They soaked up the sun and had a great time on the rides, particularly the water attractions. The day was filled with laughter, friendships, and joy – a perfect celebration to recognise all their hard work!

Wellbeing Wednesday Coffee Morning

We had a fantastic morning filled with warmth and laughter as we hosted a special Wellbeing Wednesday Coffee Morning for our parents. We came together to enjoy delicious treats, share stories, and take a moment to relax, amidst our busy lives. Thank you to all the parents who joined us, your presence made this event truly special. Let's continue to prioritise self-care and connection as we navigate the term together.

Special Assembly Moment

This morning, I accompanied the Year 6's on their trip to Stroud, which meant I could not make it to our weekly Assembly. However, I heard that I wasn't missed. Apparently, we had an impostor! Zayna in Year 5 did a fantastic job filling in for me, and there were certainly some resemblances. Mrs. Biscardi mentioned that she portrayed Mrs. Verma excellently and even questioned everyone about their "best day ever" – what an outstanding performance!

Visiting the Bernadine Sisters

Today, our Year 6 children had a memorable trip visiting the Bernadine Sisters in Stroud. It's wonderful to see our children engaging with the Sisters and learning all about the history of the monastery. It is really starting to feel like we are on a count-down to the end of our year 6 children's time in St Bernard's Prep.

Trans EK Liturgy Faith and Trust

Trans EK School delivered a heart-warming Liturgy this week, focusing on the themes of faith and trust in the divine presence. They reminded us all of God's  constant support in times of need, through a poignant reading of the "Footsteps" prayer.

In a touching conclusion to the assembly, the children pledged to alleviate the burdens of their loved ones by offers of help and support. Let us follow their example and spread kindness and compassion throughout our whole community.

Trans HC Assembly - Jonah and the Whale

What a fabulous Assembly today, delivered by Trans HC. The children had everyone entertained with a mix of Science, laughter, and of course, a few classic dad jokes! (We wouldn't expect anything less from Mr Cheesman).

The story of 'Jonah and the Whale' took centre stage, with a powerful message about the importance of following rules. Just like Jonah's journey, our Year 4 children spoke about the challenges of always trying to adhere to the rules.

By the end of the assembly, they realised that rules are there to guide and protect us and our teachers and parents only want the very best for us all. It is a lesson we can all take to heart.

Year 2 and the Glue Stick Drama

There was much confusion on Monday when the pupils couldn't find any glue sticks in the classroom to stick their work in their books. Then all of a sudden the mystery was solved when Mrs King arrived with a letter from the disgruntled leader of the glue sticks. It read how they were fed up, having their lids left off and how they previously had headaches over being used so much! Luckily, the pupils were quick to decide on writing persuasive letters to resolve the issue and apologise. We were excited to welcome them back to class with the promise of giving them a rest over half term!

Early Years Crafty B's and Art Club

Crafty B's and Art Club were both feeling inspired by the beauty of nature this week! They took their creativity outside and used natural materials to create stunning artwork.

Early Years Crafty B's made delicate and colourful butterflies, while Art Club crafted beautiful daisy vases. The children had so much fun exploring their creativity and connecting with nature.

Year 4 Design and Technology

The talented children in Year 4 have outdone themselves with these incredible disco lights they created! Using their coding skills, they programmed the Crumble Kit to showcase a mesmerising light display that changes colours and flashes on and off.

This hands-on project not only honed their technical abilities, but also unleashed their boundless creativity.
