Dear Parents,

I hope you all had a lovely week! I certainly did - I had a fantastic trip to France with our year 6 children. It was a wonderful experience, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to share it with them.

While I was away, the school was as bustling as ever. The Early Years had a special visit from 'Zoolab'. Year 1 and Year 2 have been working tirelessly on their upcoming performance of The Giant Turnip. Year 2 had a delightful Victorian day on Monday, and let's not forget about Year 5, who had a visit from the Fire Brigade.

It has been a busy week, but such a rewarding one. I cannot wait to see what next week will bring. I am so looking forward to attending the Year 1 and 2 production and on Friday we have sports day at TVAC.

Early Years Zoolab

Early Years were over the moon to have a special visit from Zoolab. It was a day filled with wonder and learning as they got up close and personal with some fascinating creatures. They saw millipedes, cockroaches, giant African snails, snakes, and even a tarantula! The children's faces were a mix of excitement and curiosity as they learnt all about these amazing creatures. They were also given the chance to hold them too! Talk about a hands-on experience.

The children showed incredible bravery and gentleness towards their new friends. They handled the critters with such care and respect, proving just how compassionate and fearless they can be. It was a day to remember for our little explorers. Who knew learning about creepy crawlies could be this much fun? Well done to all the children for being so brave and curious!

Year 2 - Victorian Day

On Monday, Year 2 had an exciting time during their Victorian Day. The children immersed themselves in the past, learning how to write with quill pens and ink, mastering intricate needlework, enjoying traditional games like marbles, and sharpening their multiplication skills in a Victorian setting. The highlight of the day was seeing them all dressed head-to-toe in authentic Victorian costumes, truly bringing history to life!

Year 5 Visit from the Fire Brigade

The Fire Brigade paid a special visit to our school on Tuesday to educate our Year 5 children on fire safety. The informative session covered essential advice on what to do in case of a fire emergency. The highlight of the day was when the children had the unique opportunity to explore the fire engine up close, learning about its equipment and functionality. Furthermore, they actively participated by operating the fire hoses under the expert guidance of the firefighters, which added an element of fun and hands-on learning to the experience. We are thrilled to see our children engaging with such crucial life skills in an interactive and memorable way.

Our Early Years sewing club has been keeping busy, creating adorable minibeasts. The children have been diligently working on their projects, and the results are simply beautiful. It's amazing to see their creativity and skills shine through in every stitch.

Mini Dukes

Our Mini Dukes have been particularly impressive with their latest challenge on helpfulness. They have been putting in extra effort by trying their hands at vacuuming in school, all in a bid to lend a helping hand to their parents at home.

The Mini Dukes have truly impressed us all with their dedication and hard work towards this challenge. However, it wasn't all smooth sailing, as poor Adi mentioned that all the vacuuming gave him quite the backache! Nevertheless, he persevered and carried on with a smile.

Congratulations Mini Dukes for taking on new challenges and developing important life skills.

Achievements:

Congratulations to Nainikka (Yr6) for getting ‘full marks with distinction’ in her Grade 5 Piano Theory Result. She had been waiting a long time for her results and was delighted when Mrs Verma told her the news on her French Trip.

During the half-term break, Harmani (Yr3) completed a 5km Race for Life at the Royal Windsor Racecourse. This was a huge challenge but Harmani showed perseverance and determination to keep going and finish the race. They have raised just under £300 for Cancer Research UK.  A fantastic achievement for a very worthy and important cause!

Congratulations to Samriddhi for Passing her Ballet test and receiving a Juvenile award from Footlights Theatre Dance School.

Finally, congratulations to Arjan (EY2) for clinching the U8s gold award at a Judo Festival this week. Such a remarkable feat for one of our Early Years children.

Just a quick reminder that the Wellbeing weekend will take place next week following Sports Day, except for Early Year 2 who will enjoy theirs this weekend. The children will have a well-deserved break from homework, so it's the perfect opportunity to plan a fun family day out.

This week, I had the privilege of accompanying Year 6 children on a visit to Somme, which coincided with the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Reflecting on these historic events, it struck me how the sacrifices of those before us have shaped the world we live in today.

On June 6th, 1944, 4,413 brave men made the ultimate sacrifice to secure our freedom. It's important to remember and honour their courage as we strive to build a better future for the next generation.

Let's cherish our freedom and make the most of our time together.
