Dear Parents,

We have had a bustling couple of weeks at school filled with exciting events and activities, including all the excitement of the Summer Fete after school today.

It was an absolute delight to see our brilliant Prep and Upper Prep children take to the stage to bring the classic tale of "The Enormous Turnip" to life! Their dedication, enthusiasm, and sheer talent truly stole the show, leaving everyone in awe. From delightful singing to captivating dancing, their performance filled our hearts with joy and pride.

A big shout-out to Mr. B, Miss Robinson and Mr Hawkes for organising yet another successful Sports Day at TVAC for our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children. The infectious energy and sportsmanship on display made the day truly memorable. A special thank you to all the amazing parents who came out to show their support and cheer on our young athletes. Your positive presence made the day even more special and memorable for our children.

Wayne Dixon from CCiS dropped by to give our Year 6 children some top tips on transitioning to secondary school. From making new friends to tackling tricky lessons, Wayne covered it all. The children have said they are now feeling more confident, benefitting from talking about their hopes and worries, dreams and aspirations.

Year 3 had an insightful visit exploring the vibrant culture and traditions at the Gudwara in Wexham this week. The children were fascinated by the beautiful architecture of the Gudwara and were warmly welcomed by the members of the local Sikh community. It was fantastic to see them asking insightful questions and showing genuine curiosity about different faiths and beliefs.

Upper Trans 5 Stewardship Assembly

Year 5's Assembly this morning reminded us of the important job we all have as Stewards of God's creation. Just like the boy in the story we shared, we have to think about how our small actions can make a big difference to God's creatures. With so many British animals at risk of extinction, it's more important than ever that we do everything we can to protect our planet and the animals who live here.

Year 1 Crest Star Awards

Year One are so excited to have finished their Crest STAR awards. They completed their final mini-experiment today with the task of working out which unlabelled tin contained beans. We had two successful teams and one team whose dinner guests will be eating dog food on toast! They have worked incredibly hard over the last two terms and greatly developed their scientific skills! They eagerly await their certificates and badges!

Year 2 - Some More Special Visitors

There was much excitement in Upper Prep this week as some very special visitors came to stay! Miss Adam's guinea pigs, Lexie and Milo, were welcomed with open hearts and lots of coriander by all the children! The pupils learnt about how to be good pet owners and meet the needs of their furry friends. They created wonderful information booklets and learnt some super guinea pig facts.

Sports Day

On Friday the 14th of June we returned to the TVAC for our annual Inter-House Sports Day.

In the morning, our Year 4s, 5s and 6s took to the track and field to compete in various events such as hurdles, sprints, relays and vortex throws. We also had our regular fun races, which included the 3-legged race, egg and spoon and skipping. With all the athletes determined to get as many house points as possible, we witnessed some amazing individual and team performances on the day.  The overall champions in the Upper school event was JOHN, with MATTHEW coming in second.

In the afternoon, it was the turn of the Lower School children in Years 1,2 and 3, who had the chance to showcase their athletic ability. With all the children participating in running, hoop skipping, balancing exercises, sack races and space hopping, the competition was tight and the overall house results were very close.

In the end, the overall winners of the Lower School Sports Day were LUKE, with JOHN as runners-up.

Huge congratulations to all the children for their outstanding participation and efforts on the day!

Sports News

Year 4

On Tuesday 11th June, all the Year 4 children strolled over to Lascelles park to play against Long Close. Normally, at this time of year, we play Rounders and Cricket, but this time we mixed the teams and played our favourite summer game - Home and Away. Well done to all players and to all the children who taught the rules to Long Close. Well done to the Tigers, who were the overall winners.

Year 6

On Wednesday 12th June, all of the Year 6 children travelled to Lascelles to play against Long Close at Cricket and Rounders. St Bernard's won all four of their fixtures convincingly against their opponents. Well done to all four teams and to Hasitha, Josh, Nainikka and Anaira, who were MVPs for their teams.

Over the past few weeks, our children have been taking part in Inter-House Rounders matches.

Some outstanding batting and fielding was on display which resulted in many rounders being scored, and some fantastic catches taken.

Huge congratulations to Matthew in Year 4, and Luke in Year 6 for being the overall champions in their respective groups.
