Dear Parents,

We have had a bustling week here at school, filled with exciting welcome meetings in Pre-Early Years, Early Years 1 & 2 and also in Year 4. It has been delightful to see so many eager faces, as we embark on this new academic year together. Thank you to all the parents for your involvement; it truly makes a difference!

A big thank you is also in order for ensuring the children were dressed in their winter uniforms for school photos on Wednesday. The children looked extremely smart, ready to capture lasting memories.

On Thursday, our Year 6 children bravely faced their Buckinghamshire 11+ exam. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and determination. It’s a significant milestone, and we are rooting for all of them as they await their results.

We have more class Welcome meetings coming up this week, so make sure you keep an eye on the diary dates for details.

Summer Reading Challenge

I am delighted so many of our children successfully completed the Summer Reading Challenge. I am extremely proud of their hard work and commitment to reading throughout the summer holiday. The challenge may be over, but I hope this achievement has ignited a lifelong love for reading. Remember, books can transport us to new worlds, spark our imagination, and teach us valuable lessons. Keep reading, because the adventure never ends!

Buddy Time

Today, our children had the pleasure of meeting their new buddies for the year for the very first time. Each child was paired with another child to serve as their buddy throughout the school year. This presents a fantastic opportunity for our older children to mentor their younger peers.

Wellbeing Weekend Wisdom

Take a mindful moment this weekend to think about your breathing. After a busy first few weeks of getting back into the school routine, it is important that we all try to find a moment of calm and quiet this weekend.

Slow and deep breathing can help us to manage feelings of anxiety or worry, and it might even be able to help us manage pain. The best thing about a breathing technique is that it is completely free and doesn’t need any equipment at all. Why not give the hand breathing technique a try?

500 Words Competition

Attention all young wordsmiths! Are you ready to unleash your creativity and embark on an incredible writing adventure?

There will be two age categories: 5-7 and 8-11 year-olds. All children need to do is write a story they would love to read in 500 words or less. The closing date for entries is Friday 8 November at 9pm.

The finalists will be invited to go to a glamorous grand final in February next year,, where the bronze, silver and gold in each category will have their stories read out by celebrities. There are also lots of prizes to be won - each winner takes home a bundle of books and the gold winners also win 500 books for their school library.

Not only that, the winning stories take home an original illustration from Dapo Adeola, Nigel Parkinson, Lydia Monks, Momoko Abe, Rob Biddulph or Yasmin Ismael.

Entering the BBC 500 Words competition couldn't be easier! Simply visit the official BBC 500 Words  website and fill out the online entry form. Make sure to follow the guidelines, and let us know if your child has applied.
