Dear Parents,

What a joy it has been to see so many of you this week! Whether you popped in for a class welcome meeting, joined us for our wellbeing coffee morning, or participated in our bustling celebration assembly this morning, your presence truly brightened our school community. A special thank you to everyone who attended the coffee morning; it was wonderful to see so many of our dads joining in!

I have fantastic news to share this week regarding the national SATIPS Handwriting competition, as well as the remarkable achievements of our children, who took their LAMDA examinations before the summer holidays. It is heartening to see the dedication, hard work and effort our children continuously apply to their learning.

SATIPS Handwriting Competition

I am incredibly proud to announce we have a total of 12 winners in the SATIPS National Schools Handwriting Competition. We had the most winners than any other school too!

Congratulations to:

These children, along with Mrs. Weait, have beautifully highlighted the art of handwriting, reminding us of the importance of this timeless skill. Each submission reflects their enthusiasm and commitment. Having so many winners in our school is truly remarkable! The SATIPS shield will be proudly with us for another year.

LAMDA Awards

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that 43 of our talented children took the LAMDA examinations before the summer term, and the results have left us all speechless.

In an incredible display of talent and hard work, 100% of our students achieved either a Merit or Distinction across 12 separate exams! Our children achieved an astonishing 10 distinctions and 2 merits, culminating in an outstanding 83% distinction rate. This remarkable achievement showcases their dedication and skill. We couldn’t be prouder of each and every one of our young performers.

Massive congratulations to all our young performers! Your hard work and passion truly shine through, and we couldn’t be prouder! Keep reaching for the stars!

Wellbeing Weekend Wisdom

When was the last time you really slowed down and appreciated the little things in life? It can be so hard to do in our busy lives, but being grateful has been shown to greatly improve our mental wellbeing. Why not try the game of four this weekend?

It’s a great activity to try over a family dinner, and it’s so easy. Just notice four positive things for which you’re grateful for during the day. The point is to pick something you wouldn’t normally note. Examples may include the:

  • The Smell of your soap or shampoo
  • The way your pet approaches you when it is happy
  • The laughter of friends or family
  • The taste of your favourite drink
  • The feel of your cosy, warm bed when you are tired after a long day
  • The sight of wildflowers or a postcard-perfect view

We would love to hear your four things on Monday. Why not ask your teacher for four little things they are grateful for on Monday morning?

Sports News

We have had a busy start to the term for our sports teams across the school with rugby, hockey, netball and football matches already being played in just under a week.

Last Friday, we welcomed Herries Prep School for an afternoon of mixed  Year 5 Netball and Football matches. We had 4 teams represent our school and all the children got the opportunity to play in both a netball and a football match. We played 4 football matches, in which we won 2 and lost 2, and out of the 8 netball matches that we played we won 6, drew 1 and lost 1. Well done to all the children for their outstanding participation.

On Wednesday, it was the turn of the Year 6 Rugby and Hockey players who walked over to Long Close School. Our hockey teams played a total of 4 matches winning 3 and drawing 1. Our rugby team played in two matches and won both of their games scoring a total of 12 tries on the afternoon.

This was a fantastic start to our sporting calendar and we are super excited to see the children in action throughout the year with plenty of more fixtures to come.
