Dear Parents,

Wow! I know I always say it, but what a busy week we have had! This week was buzzing with activities that truly showcased the spirit and enthusiasm of St Bernard's Prep.

We celebrated Maths (England) Week, where creativity met calculations, Science Week brought us a visit from a science professor demonstrating some amazing scientific tricks and the Science Fair, which had a fantastic display of captivating experiments which ignited curiosity amongst children, parents, and staff alike.

Additionally, we embraced the theme of respect during Anti-Bullying week, with everyone participating in our wonderful odd sock day and Upper Prep had their very own Fire of London, using the Tudor houses they made over the half-term. Our Assemblies and Liturgies have kept us united, whilst our Parents Online safety meetings reinforced the importance of being digitally aware.

On an exciting note, I have even heard our Early Years’ classes starting to practise for their upcoming nativity performance and the singing is beautiful. There is certainly never a dull moment, and I couldn’t be prouder of our vibrant school community!

Lower Trans U Assembly

Lower Trans U wowed us this morning with a fabulous assembly all about rules. They engaged us with their thoughtful discussions, exploring the various rules we have in place and pondering what life would be like without them. There were certainly some funny moments that had us chuckling, but in the end, they all agreed that life is indeed better with rules.

What really stood out was how they connected this topic to a broader message about kindness, citing how Jesus encourages us to love one another. They emphasised the importance of saying sorry and the strength that comes from forgiveness. Each child spoke beautifully, sharing their thoughts with clarity and confidence. To top it all off, their singing was absolutely lovely, leaving us all with smiles on our faces. Well done, Lower Trans U!

Achievements

Congratulations to Dea (Remove), who secured first place in four races for the Windsor swimming club. She is also beginning to guest with the county squad, marking a significant achievement.

Dea said...

"I am privileged to have been given the opportunity to guest as a member of the county development team. Right now I swim four times a week, when I join the county development team full-time that will increase to five times a week. Without the courage and support of my parents, I would not have been able to get to where I am now".

Also, a huge shout-out to Sanya (Lower Trans U) for submitting her story to the BBC 500 Words competition; I wish you the best of luck!

Sports News

Year 5 Rugby vs St John’s Beaumont and St Benedict’s

Last Friday, our Year 5 Rugby team travelled to Old Windsor to play in a double-match fixture versus both St John’s Beaumont and St Benedict’s. Although we lost both matches, our boys put up a fantastic fight in both of the games in very muddy conditions. Defensively we made some great tackles against some very large players, and on attack we got a lot more dangerous and creative as the afternoon progressed. Well done to all the players and a special congratulations to Pranav and Shrey who were our 2 MVPS.

Under 9 and Under 11 Football vs Long Close and Papplewick

On Tuesday our Under 9A and B Football teams travelled to Lascelles’s Park to play in a triangular fixture against both Long Close School and Papplewick. All in all our teams played in 6 matches, winning 3 and narrowly losing 3. Both of our teams played exciting football throughout the afternoon and we scored some fantastic goals in all of our 6 matches.  Well done to everyone and congratulations to both Reyaansh and Jeevan who received the Green Laces awards on the day.

On Wednesday we welcomed the Long Close Under 11 team to play football at ours. We took a 2-0 lead at halftime after goals from Jai and Rohan. In the second half, the floodgates opened and we scored a further 7 more goals through Archie, Saacha and Ayaan to finish the game with a resounding 9-0 win. Although the score may look convincing, this was by no means an easy match and our opponents made us work hard for the win. Our boys blended and performed exceptionally well on the day. Well done to the team and congratulations to Archie for being our MVP.

Under 9 Netball vs Long Close

On Tuesday Our Under 9A,B and C teams walked over to Long Close School to play in 3 netball matches. All 3 of our teams put up a fantastic display and we won all of our matches. Our all-round skills of passing, catching and moving into space was of a very high standard and this resulted in a total of 18 goals being scored by our 3 teams. Well done to everyone and congratulations to Siana, Zahra and Zoya for being nominated as our MVPs.

On Wednesday our U11 Netball Team hosted Long Close School. Our girls made a huge statement early in the game by scoring a number of consecutive goals. Our players in all positions linked up and communicated very well to ensure we were in control throughout the entire match. 6 of our 8 players all scored goals, which is a remarkable team effort and achievement. We ended the game with an 18-0 win. Well done to the team for a great result and congratulations to Zayna for receiving the Green Laces awards on the day.
