Dear Parents,

Welcome back to school! I hope you all had a wonderful and restful break. It has been lovely to see the school buzzing with energy once again, and we have certainly had a fantastic start to the second half-term.

On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome so many of you to our 'Open House' session. It was a joy to see parents sitting with their children, looking through their favourite pieces of work and celebrating their achievements together. Thank you to everyone who stayed on afterwards to join staff at our Cheese, Chat & Cheers event, it was wonderful to hear such positive feedback about the teaching and learning in each year group, and it truly strengthens the connection between home and school.

Thursday was an exciting day for Year 3, who stepped back in time for their Roman Day, complete with a sleepover at school! From engaging in a themed workshop to enjoying extra games time, pizza, and a cosy hot chocolate (with marshmallows, of course), the children had a memorable experience before settling down for the night in the school hall.

The highlight of the week, however, has to be the KS1 production of Aladdin. I was completely in awe of the confidence and joy radiating from our Year 1 and 2 performers. From the beginning of the show, their enthusiasm lit up the stage and kept the audience captivated. The children brought the story to life with such energy and charm, it is hard to believe they are only five to seven years old. The singing, especially the solos, was nothing short of amazing, delivered with courage, clarity, and pride. It was wonderful to see each child take to the stage with such self-assurance, and it is a credit to their hard work and the dedication of the staff who supported them throughout.

These are the moments that remind us how powerful enrichment opportunities can be. Not just in developing performance skills, but in nurturing confidence, teamwork, and creativity. Watching the children shine so brightly on stage was a proud moment for all of us, and a perfect reflection of the all-round development we strive for here at St Bernard’s Prep.

Early Years

This week, our Early Years children have been reaching for the stars as they explored the wonders of space. From planets and astronauts to stars and rockets,  they had an exciting time learning all about the universe. A highlight of the week was designing and making their very own rockets. The children used their creativity, fine motor skills, and imagination to build fantastic spacecrafts ready for lift-off. It has been a week full of curiosity, discovery, and lots of fun!

Studybugs

A reminder that your child's attendance does fall under statutory regulations and, as with all schools, is monitored by the local authority. If you have not already downloaded the app, we will be contacting you to help you with the process.

As we approach the weekend, I want to remind families that it is Wellbeing Weekend, which means there will be no homework assigned. I encourage everyone to take this time to unwind and enjoy some quality moments together.

Please be aware that we will not have a newsletter distributed next week as we will be celebrating Sports Day—a day filled with energy, teamwork, and school spirit. I will be excited to see many of you there!

Wishing you all a restful and joyful weekend!
