Dear Parents and Families,

This week we had the joy of celebrating our school’s 80th Anniversary with a special Mass led beautifully by Year 6. It was a truly memorable occasion, made even more special as we were introduced to our new parish priest, Father Tony.

Following the Mass, Father Tony warmly blessed all our new children and staff, officially welcoming them into the St Bernard’s Prep family. It was a lovely way to begin this milestone year together.

Thank you to all parents who attended the last of our Welcome Meetings this week. Your support and involvement mean so much, and it was wonderful to have the chance to share key information and strengthen our partnership for the year ahead.

This morning, Upper Transition WH delivered a beautiful assembly all about hope. The children shared their own hopes for the future and reminded us all that there is always hope, even in the most difficult times, such as during war. Their thoughtful words and reflections gave us plenty to think about and were a wonderful way to start the day.

Welcome Blessing

Collaborative Maths!

This week in Remove Maths, the children turned detectives as they tackled a special murder mystery challenge. Along the way, they had to solve a tricky maths puzzle: the sum of the squares of six consecutive whole numbers is 1111 - can you work out what those numbers might be? It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and perseverance shining through!

Achievements

Well done to Saarth (Y5), who was named Player of the Tournament for his football club. This is a fantastic achievement, and we are so proud of his hard work and dedication on the pitch.

A huge well done to Harry, who came 2nd in the Middlesex Badminton County Tournament (U12s) this weekend. Following this brilliant success, he has been invited to represent the county in future league matches. Becoming a county player has been Harry’s goal for some time, and we are thrilled to see his hard work and dedication rewarded.

Year 5 & 6 Football vs Thorpe House

Last Friday, a mixed squad of Year 5 and 6 boys travelled to Thorpe House to take part in two exciting matches. Our A Team got off to a flying start with an early 1–0 lead, but after a hard-fought second half, Thorpe House proved too strong, and we finished with a 2–6 defeat. Despite the scoreline, the boys showed fantastic determination and never gave up. Our B Team went into the second half with a comfortable 3–0 lead thanks to goals from Jeevan and Avi. Thorpe House responded strongly to level the game, and it ended in a thrilling 3–3 draw. Well done to all the boys who represented the school, and a special congratulations to Ryan and Jeevan, who were nominated as MVPs of the day.

U10+U11 Netball Tournament at The Marist

On Wednesday, our Under 10 and Under 11 netballers travelled to Ascot to compete in the annual tournament hosted by The Marist School. Both teams performed brilliantly, playing several matches in their groups and showing impressive all-round skills in both attack and defence. Just as importantly, they displayed excellent teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the afternoon. A huge well done to all our players, and special congratulations to Anaya (Year 5) and Anya (Year 6), who were awarded the MVP accolades on the day.

Finally, a reminder that we have our Open Morning tomorrow. A big thank you to the children who will be helping to show our visitors around the school. We know they will do us proud and be wonderful ambassadors for St Bernard’s Prep.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and wishing you all a lovely weekend.
