Dear Parents and Families,

This week has been a busy and rewarding one in school. On Saturday, we welcomed families to our Open Morning, and it was wonderful to see so many of our Key Stage 2 children volunteering to assist with tours. Thank you for being such excellent ambassadors.

On Tuesday evening, we held the majority of our Parents’ Evenings. We hope you found these helpful and enjoyed the opportunity to speak with your child’s new class teacher. It is always a pleasure to continue strengthening the partnership between home and school.

Wednesday brought a special Buddy Liturgy, where children joined together across year groups to learn about the Rosary. These moments of faith and friendship are always a joy to witness.

On Friday morning, our Family CAFOD Breakfast was very well attended. Thank you to everyone who joined us. We are also extremely grateful for the generous donations of non-perishable food items sent in to mark our Harvest Assembly, beautifully performed by Upper Prep. All of these donations will be given to Slough Food Bank, where they will make a real difference to those in need.

We are very fortunate to have been invited to the Eton College Museum to take part in a series of exciting workshops. Each year group will have the opportunity to attend a session, with themes ranging from the Victorians to the Ancient Egyptians. These experiences will bring history to life for our children and offer them a wonderful chance to learn in such a unique setting.

Early Years 2

This week, our Early Years 2 children have been busy exploring their brand-new woodwork bench, and what a hit it’s been! Using real hammers and nails (with close supervision, of course), the children took on the exciting challenge of creating their very own wooden hedgehogs. Woodwork in early childhood offers so much more than just fun, it helps develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem-solving abilities, and perseverance. It also encourages creativity and builds confidence, as children learn to safely use real tools to bring their ideas to life. We’re so proud of their focus, care, and enthusiasm and the spiky little hedgehogs are proudly on display for all to see!

Field work in Year 3 Geography!

Year 3 have been busy carrying out some exciting fieldwork as part of their Geography lessons. They began by learning about the United Kingdom, using compass directions (north, south, east and west) to describe different places and to recognise where our school is in relation to London. From there, the children explored plans of our own school site before broadening their study to look at Slough and the surrounding local area. This hands-on approach is helping them to develop important map-reading skills and a greater understanding of the world around them.

Achievements

On Saturday 20th September, Himmat (Y2) and Harmani (Y5) attended the annual UK Karate-Do Goju Kai 2025 Tournament in West London, where they took part in both the Individual Kata and Individual Sparring events.

Himmat achieved 1st place in Kata, while Harmani impressed with a fantastic 2nd place finish.

The sparring events were more challenging against experienced competitors, but both children showed excellent perseverance, building confidence and resilience throughout the competition.

Having trained in Karate for just one year, it is wonderful to see their hard work, dedication and commitment pay off. Well done, Himmat and Harmani – we are so proud of you both!

On Tuesday, we took three Under 9 teams to play against Thorpe House. All three of our teams put up a phenomenal display and we won all of our matches. St B’s FC won their match 6-5, United won 8-6, while the Saints beat their opponents 10-2. Well done to all of our players for a spectacular performance. Congratulations to Raaghav, Aiden and Ari for all being named MVPs for their respective teams.

Under 11 Netball vs The Marist

On Wednesday, our Under 11A+B Netball teams travelled to Sunninghill to play against The Marist. Both matches were very well contested with plenty of goals being scored throughout the afternoon. All of our players got into good rhythm and blended well amongst each other to ensure effective team play on the courts. We narrowly lost both matches but our girls can keep their heads up high for their outstanding performances and competitive spirit throughout the day. Well done to both Avni and Hargun for receiving the MVP accolades.

As we come to the end of another busy week, we would like to remind you that it is a Wellbeing Weekend. This means there will be no homework set, giving families the chance to pause, rest and enjoy the time together. We hope you take the opportunity to make the most of these autumn days and spend some special moments with your children.
