Dear Parents and Families,

What a fantastic final week of half term we’ve had! It’s been a whirlwind of fun, creativity and celebration from start to finish.

On Monday, we had an incredible STEAM Day led by Mrs Gabb. The children were absolutely buzzing with excitement as they got hands-on with make-do tools, cardboard, bolts, hinges and screws to bring their creative ideas to life! It was fantastic to see such collaboration, imagination and problem-solving on display.

Each year group explored the theme of Caring for God’s Creation in their own way, from building bug hotels and bird feeders to designing clever eco-inventions and even creating a “Wind Ball of the World.” The children showed wonderful creativity and care for our planet throughout the day.

We will also be continuing the STEAM fun in class by building 3D models of local buildings. Once they are all put together, we will have our very own model of Slough.

On Wednesday, Year 5 had a magical day out stepping onto the iconic sets of the Harry Potter film series in a spookier setting, featuring dimmed lights, floating pumpkins and ominous Dementors lurking throughout the studio tour! The children were immersed into the ‘Dark Arts’ of the wizarding world, as well as using their creative writing skills to invent their own mythical creatures inspired by the books. We were really impressed with the children’s extensive Harry Potter knowledge and brilliant behaviour. A spook-tacular day out!

Meanwhile, in school, Upper Prep led us in a beautiful Liturgy all about the Rosary. They taught us about the Mysteries and how to pray with our Rosary beads. It was a thoughtful and peaceful time of prayer and reflection.

On Thursday, KS2 took part in an inspiring art workshop with Vinny Soor, illustrator of the best-selling book Stories for South Asian Super Girls (and Siana’s mum, Y4). Vinny shared insights into the author’s work and her own illustration process before the children had the chance to colour and personalise their own versions of her artwork. It was a wonderful opportunity to explore creativity, identity, and inspiration as part of Black History Month.

On Friday, we had a wonderful start to Guardian Angels Day when our very own Miss Adams surprised everyone with a stunning piece of angel artwork. She had her design made into beautiful cards for all parents, children and staff to keep, each with a thoughtful message to remind us of our guardian angels.

We were then treated to our annual Year 6 Guardian Angels Day assembly — always a highlight of the year! This time, it was performed Strictly Come Dancing style, with hilarious impressions of the teachers that had everyone in stitches. It set the tone perfectly for a day full of laughter, fun and celebration.

Later in the day, the whole school headed outside to watch a very competitive rounders match between the Year 6 children and the teachers. It was a close game, full of cheers and good spirits, but in the end the teachers triumphed with a score of 11–8!

As part of our much-loved tradition, everyone enjoyed a delicious iced bun and an apple-inspired lunch, honouring the custom started by the Sisters, who would treat all the children to an iced bun and an apple each year.

The celebrations continued with a lively disco, filled with smiles, dancing and laughter, a perfect way to end such a special day together.

Achievements

A huge congratulations to Raaghav who has been awarded Player of the Match after his team, Sporttiers FC Under 9s, won their fifth game in a row! Raaghav scored two fantastic goals in their most recent match, helping his team secure a 4–3 away victory in the Thames Valley Football League. What a brilliant achievement!
