Dear Parents and Families,
It was wonderful to see the children returning to school this week, full of smiles and energy after the half-term break. Our Early Years pupils looked fantastic in their colourful outfits, ready to enjoy their day of celebrating the Festival of Light. Meanwhile, it was lovely to see how creative everyone had been over the holiday. Year 2 produced beautiful Tudor houses (some were bigger than the children carrying them), Year 4 designed impressive Anglo-Saxon helmets, and Year 5 crafted striking Viking longboats. Well done to everyone for such imaginative and thoughtful work.
On Monday, our Early Years children had a wonderful day celebrating Diwali. Eshan’s nanny kindly visited to teach the children how to make beautiful Rangoli patterns and delicious coconut delights. Our amazing parents provided a fantastic Indian feast, with samosas, pakoras, and lots of other tasty delicacies to enjoy. The children also had the chance to decorate their own Diyas and loved joining in with some lively dancing. A big thank you to Eshan’s nanny for spending so much time with the children. It truly was a fantastic, fun-filled day of learning and celebration.
On Tuesday, Year 2 enjoyed a fantastic trip to Pizza Express, where they took part in a hands-on workshop to learn how pizzas are made. The children discovered all about the different ingredients and loved watching the chef skilfully toss the dough into the air! They each made their own Margherita pizza before bringing them back to school to enjoy. A delicious end to a fun and educational morning.
On Wednesday, Upper Trans led a beautiful Liturgy for All Saints’ Day. The children shared prayers, readings, and reflections about the saints and how we can follow their example by showing kindness and love in our own lives. It was a thoughtful and faith-filled celebration reminding us all that death is not the end, but the beginning of a new life with God.
This morning, Lower Trans led a moving assembly on Remembrance. Through drama, poetry, and prayer, the children helped us reflect on the importance of remembering those who have given their lives in service to others. Their performance included a powerful reading of In Flanders Fields and a creative time-travel theme featuring Dr Who and the Unknown Soldier, which really brought history to life. The assembly ended with a thoughtful prayer for peace and hope.
