Dear Parents and Families,
This week has been filled with colour, learning and kindness across the school.
On Monday, we celebrated 'Odd Socks Day' to mark the start of Anti-Bullying Week. It was wonderful to see so many bright and creative odd socks worn by both children and staff. Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun while reminding us to express ourselves, celebrate what makes us unique, and understand everyone is different and special in their own way.
Year 4 had a wonderful and enriching visit to the mosque this week. The children learnt about the history of the Qur’an and had the opportunity to write their names in Arabic. They also explored traditional clothing and examined a range of religious artefacts used in Islamic worship. The children asked thoughtful questions, showed great curiosity and respect, and represented the school beautifully.
On Tuesday, the whole school gathered in the atrium at 11am to mark Remembrance Day. Year 1 placed their poppy wreaths beside our Tommy figure, and we listened to the Last Post before joining together in a two-minute silence. The children showed remarkable reverence, making it a truly meaningful moment of reflection for everyone.
On Wednesday morning, Prep led a beautiful liturgy all about helping others, just as Jesus taught. They spoke thoughtfully about kindness, thinking of those who may need support, and making sure everyone feels included.
This was Prep’s very first liturgy, and they did an exceptional job. We were all so proud of them.
On Wednesday afternoon, EYFS hosted a Baby Bank Ball. Parents were invited to join by bringing donations of pyjamas, a storybook and chocolates, all to be gifted to Slough Baby Bank. It was a joyful event and a lovely way to support families in our wider community. Thank you to everyone who contributed.
This morning, Trans B led a fantastic assembly linked to this year’s Anti-Bullying Week theme: Using Our Power for Good.
The children shared powerful messages about kindness, empathy, standing up for one another, and making choices that help everyone feel safe and included. We were so proud of their confidence and the thought they put into their performance.
