Newsletter - Friday 23rd April

Dear Parents,

Welcome back and a very special welcome to our seven new starters and their families.  It was wonderful to see the children skip through the gates on Wednesday morning, ready for the final term of this academic year. This week has been short, but action-packed. We've had ducks hatching in Early Years, Sports Day practise with Mr B, fantastic results in the Primary Maths Challenge and work has begun on our Reflection Garden.  We have been blessed with beautiful weather and I even got to enjoy my lunch outside on our new benches with some of the children.

Primary Maths Challenge

Every year our Year 6 pupils are entered into a national maths competition called The Primary Maths Challenge. We are delighted to announce that this year has been another very strong year for St Bernard's with 11 medals awarded. Congratulations to all the children who took part, another brilliant result for St Bernard's Prep.

Sports with Mr B

The beautiful weather has meant PE and Games have been on the field, and we have even begun practising for Sports Day!

Headmaster's Challenge

We have already received some incredible entries for this term's Headmaster's Challenge.  The children have until Monday to draw a picture and add a few words to continue the adventures of Charlie Mackesy's The Boy, the mole the fox and the horse.

Happy Vaisakhi

Our Early Years Department are celebrating Vaisakhi with the children today and have also welcomed some newly hatched ducklings.

Housekeeping

Parking - With better weather, please do take advantage of the parking at Sainsbury's and walk to school to avoid congestion in the road outside school.

Uniform - All children are expected to wear their normal summer school uniform smartly, including caps for boys and boaters for girls. We take great pride in your children being ambassadors of our school.

On the days when your child has either their P.E. or Games lesson, they are to continue to attend school in their sports kit, thus alleviating the need to change.

School photos - 5th May for individual and class photos and 12th May for Sports team photos. All children are to wear their full summer uniform for school photos.

Congratulations Kashvi who has cleared her grading exam in Karate and has been moved from green to purple belt, and a huge well done to Twinkle who has been selected to play County Cricket in U11 girls team - a fantastic achievement.

Have a wonderful weekend in the sunshine.

Yours sincerely,

Mr N Cheesman
