Today's assembly, based around the book Giraffes Can't Dance, was led by our Year 1 class who did a tremendous job. Well done Year 1. Elsewhere in school our children have been busy brushing up on tennis skills in PE, enjoying our new ducklings in Early Years and learning about pitch and sound in Science. Further up the school there has been some interesting discussions in Year 5 RE and an impromptu mechanical lesson for the Year 6, who looked at the engine of my car in relation to motors for Design and Technology.
May the month of Mary
May is the month of Mary in the Catholic Church. It is a time to honour Mary and to dedicate our prayers to the mother of Christ. This week each class has visited the grotto in St Bernard's Grammar School's grounds and our Year 2 class put on a beautiful liturgy.
National Maths Quiz
Congratulations to our Year 5 Maths Quiz team, who came joint 4th in this year's competition. It's always a fiercely competitive event and our team did brilliantly, coming 4th in the country and beating local rivals Eton End to a top position.
International Dance Day
To mark International Dance Day and celebrate Easter, Holi, Vaisakhi, Ram Navami, St George’s Day and Hanuman Jayanti, Mrs Mehta organised for a professional dance teacher to come to school and teach a short routine to all year groups. The children (and teachers) had a great time!
