Dear Parents,

This week has seen the return of our regular liturgies and this morning we watched a beautiful assembly by Year 3.  The lower school were able to watch in-person in the school hall, while the upper school watched remotely in their classrooms. It's not quite a full in-person school assembly, but it's pretty close, and it felt great. Year 3 shared with us the importance of Peace, Justice and Equality. A wonderful example of why it's never too young to think about making a valuable contribution to society and being a good citizen.

Our Year 4 and Year 6 children showed us what good citizens they are developing into, by representing the school in their sports fixtures this week.  Out of nine matches played, we won seven, which is a very impressive record that filled me with confelicity for the children - a great start to the season. Well done!

Latin phrase of the week

Book Club

I have an amazing series of books called The Famous Five. I recommend this series for Years 3-5. It is a series of 21 super books, written by Enid Blyton. The books are all adventurous and always encourage me to think about what I would do in the same situation. It is a great series - so start reading! I hope you enjoy them!

Snack and Chat

Our wellbeing session called 'Snack and Chat' is back! It gives the children an opportunity to play games, and have a snack and a chat about anything that might be worrying them.

Shining a spotlight on success

Congratulations to Devam who was awarded a runner-up prize in the 9+ category of the Henley Literary Festival Creative Writing Competition. A fantastic achievement, well done. The competition centred around a piece of creative writing that was inspired by a picture of a castle. "I really enjoyed taking part and I won a signed copy of a book by the illustrator Chris Riddell.  I wrote about a girl who discovered a new world within the castle, but fell into a fountain. The piece finished on a cliff hanger." Devam

Well done also to Ciarán in Year 1, who received a medal from St Peter's Iver FC for 'Always trying and never giving up', and to Vamika in Year 4 who achieved a Distinction in Grade 2 and 3 Vocal exams from the Academy of South Indian Music.

Early Years

This week in Nursery we have been busy learning about colour mixing. The children have enjoyed various messy activities using paint, shaving foam and watercolours. In phonics we have continued Phase One sounds and towards the end of the week enjoyed rhyming games and our ‘silly soup’ song.

Early Years 2 have been learning the story of ‘Owl Babies’ they have enjoyed researching about nocturnal animals, and had an owl information day. The classroom is decorated in lots of beautiful owls that they have been busy creating using different media.

Our World

"From my point of view, God is the light that illuminates the darkness, even if it does not dissolve it, and a spark of divine light is within each of us."
