Year 6 prepare to fly the nest

Year 6 have been taking part in the Be Awesome, Go Big transition programme this week, to prepare for their move to secondary school in September.

As the end of term draws near, our Year 6 children will be shifting their focus to the future and the new schools that they will be joining in September. To prepare them for their new school, and new stage of their lives, we have been taking part in a transition programme which covers some of the big topics.  The lessons cover having a 'kid awesome' attitude and how to approach new opportunities with a growth mindset. We discussed first impressions, worries and excitements, friendships and fallouts and 'bouncebackability'.  We talked about these changes and the children shared their thoughts and feelings.
