Sport

Sport plays an important role in the life of our children at St Bernard's, where they are all encouraged to reach their full potential in physical activities. Emphasis is placed on participation, sportsmanship and fair play.

Children are taught a variety of activities during their PE Curriculum to promote well-being and fitness. These activities include dance, gymnastics, athletics, ball skills, circuit raining and small-sided games. All pupils take part in a full range of sports throughout the academic year. These include team sports such as rugby, football, netball, uni-hockey, cricket and rounders.

In all sports, thorough coaching is provided by well-qualified and experienced staff. Pupils have every opportunity to learn new skills and to develop their talents. Our teams take part in a very busy local fixture list. These experiences are invaluable in forming bonds with their team mates and creating a healthy relationship with other schools. In addition to our curriculum provision we also have a wide range of extra-curricular sporting activities including judo, ballet, sports skills, streetdance and football. These clubs give children additional opportunities to pursue their interests and develop their skills.
