Come and join Slough’s best kept secret; St Bernard’s Preparatory School is an excellent, as rated in our last ISI inspection (Feb23), independent co-educational day school and currently rated 7th best prep school in the country.  It was founded in 1945 by the Bernadine Cistercian Order, whose Sisters owned the school and acted as its proprietor.  The school is now an independent subsidiary of St Benedict’s, Ealing.  The school comprises of two sections: the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for children aged 2 ½ to 5 years, and prep for pupils aged 5 to 11 years.

The school aims to teach the Catholic faith and educate pupils towards love and service to God, each other and the wider community.  It seeks to provide a broad, balanced curriculum which will develop an understanding of each fait and the Gospel values shared by all faiths.  The school endeavours to develop pupils to their full potential, spiritually, morally, academically, socially and physically.

KS1 2 Teacher

We are seeking to appoint an ambitious, dynamic and passionate teacher, who can inspire our children in the classroom, to join our highly successful and thriving team. The successful candidate would be expected to be committed to outstanding teaching and learning and contribute to the full life of the school.

Early Years Practitioner- Full Time/ Part Time 

(Working school hours 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday - Job share considered)

We are seeking an enthusiastic EYP (Level 3 or above), with appropriate qualifications to join this highly successful School. The post offers excellent opportunities for the successful candidate to participate fully in the further development of this lively and forward-looking school. They must have a clear philosophy of education and be committed to outstanding teaching and learning. 

Teaching Assistant - Full Time/ Part Time

(Working school hours 8am-5pm, Monday to Friday - Job share considered)

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational Teaching Assistant.  The successful candidate will be required to provide in-class support to children in the Upper Prep (Key Stage Two) as a Teaching Assistant, and it is envisaged the post holder will spend time with Year 5 and Year 6 classes initially. 

The successful candidate will have experience of working as a Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting and have a commitment to fostering a love of learning for all children. The candidate should be able to work on their own initiative and as part of the wider team, helping to support pupils in their lessons and the class, as and when necessary.

 

Other valuable qualities include enthusiasm, understanding, organisational ability, a capacity to work hard, and the ability to stay calm and good-humoured under pressure.

A pleasure in the life of a thriving, busy school, and the ability to act as an approachable, sympathetic and principled role model will be likely to characterise the successful candidate.

Most importantly, the successful candidate must have a genuine interest in the evolving needs of young people and a strong commitment to children’s academic and personal development.
