Maths Excellence: St Bernard’s Prep Shines in National Challenge

The results are in for the Primary Maths Challenge (PMC) Bonus Round 2026, and it is a celebration of logic, grit, and incredible talent here at St Bernard’s Prep.

Following a rigorous competition that began in late 2025, our pupils have once again proven themselves to be among the brightest young mathematical minds in the country. Out of more than 61,000 participants nationwide, the results from St Bernard’s have been nothing short of spectacular.

A National Standout: Reyaansh P

The journey to the Bonus Round is a steep one and of the 3,100 pupils who scored 21 marks or higher in the initial November round were invited to compete in the February finals.

We are ecstatic to announce that Reyaansh P achieved a perfect score. This is a monumental feat, as only 85 pupils across the entire country managed to obtain full marks this year. Reyaansh’s precision and analytical thinking have earned him a place in the top tier of UK primary mathematicians.

Cultivating Curiosity: The Primary Kangaroo

At St Bernard’s, we strive to go beyond the standard curriculum. This year, our pupils aged 9 and above also took part in the Primary Kangaroo.

Having piloted this challenge last year, we have seen first-hand how it stretches our students' curiosity. The Kangaroo is designed to encourage pupils to look at problems through a different lens, fostering a love for the "why" behind the maths, not just the "how."

A Proud Tradition

These achievements are a testament to the dedication of our pupils and the supportive environment fostered by our teaching staff. Whether tackling a complex geometry problem or navigating the logic of the Kangaroo challenge, our children have shown that they are not just learning maths, they are mastering it.

Congratulations to all our participants! We look forward to seeing where your curiosity takes you next.
